This may be one our favorite spoken word poems ever. Particularly because of the subject matter and how much it speaks to our everyday lives in this age of all-things digital. It aims to teach us all a lesson via a love story that may not have been.

The more we connect with our smartphones and portable gadgets, the more isolated we become, making conversations and face-to-face interactions practically obsolete. Watch:

A spoken word film for an online generation. ‘Look Up’ is a lesson taught to us through a love story, in a world where we continue to find ways to make it easier for us to connect with one another, but always results in us spending more time alone.

“We’re surrounded by children, who since they were born, have watched us living like robots, and think it’s the norm,” might be the most powerful portion of the video. What are we doing to future generations when we insist on occupying them with screens? This is a great poem about unplugging. Sure, it’s a  little sentimental, but there is nothing wrong with that from time to time.
